4/8/15 He went to hospital gastro enteritis and was to be returned to Egypt. He therefore missed the attack on Lone Pine and The Nek
He arrived in Heliopolis on the �Ionian� on August 9th 1915.

He was wounded in Gallipoli and also contracted a number of illnesses including influenza, colic and gastro-enteritis.
He was killed in action in the Sinai canal (Suez) zone on August 9th 1916. Richard has no known grave.
His effects consisted of 2 jerseys, 1 pair shoes, 1 muffler, 1 hairbrush, 2 pipes, 1 fountain pen, 1 writing pad, 1 pair goggles in case, 1 wrist watch damaged, 1 pocket book, a bag of coins, 1 set chevrons, 1 handkerchief, 1 military book, 1 wallet, 1 notebook, post cards, photos, 1 chain medal and coin
He was in In C Squadron 8th Light Horse
He had a policy with The Mutual Life and Citizens Assurance Coy Ltd
By 1922 his father died and Mrs. Hobley�s address was Authoringa Leongatha
