He was buried in Etaples Military Cemetery Pas de Calais


RELATIONSHIP TO WOORAYL SHIRE:
He enlisted in Leongatha and appears to have been living in the Grassy Spur area.


MILITARY/OTHER HISTORY:
◈ 20/7/1915 He enlisted in Leongatha
◈ 27/10/1915 He embarked Melbourne on HMAT Ulysses
◈ At first he was in the 6th reinforcement 22nd Battalion
◈ 24/2/1916 He changed to the 7th Battalion
◈ 26/3/1916 He embarked Alexandria
◈ 31/3/1916 He disembarked Marseilles
◈ 11/4/1916 He was ill in hospital
◈ 15/5/1916 He rejoined his unit
◈ 6/8/1916 He died of self-inflicted wounds in the General Hospital Etaples
◈ His mother, a widow, received his medals and plaque as well as a pension.
◈ He appears to be on the Grassy Spur Honor Roll as H Andrews
