He suffered a bullet wound which penetrated his chest at Popperinghe, Belgium. He died on the 22/10/1917

He was buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery Belgium

He and his family resided in Meeniyan, Victoria

16/8/16 He embarked Melbourne on HMAT Orantes
2/10/16 He disembarked Plymouth
He was in camp at Grantham and Park House
1/2/17 He went to France via Folkestone disembarking at Boulogne
16/3/17 He went out to his unit
26/9/17 He was wounded in action suffering a bullet wound to the head
3/10/17 He returned to his unit
18/10/17 He was wounded in action and went to the Third Australian Field Ambulance. A bullet entered his right shoulder and penetrated the chest.
He was transferred to Second Canadian Casualty Clearing Station
22/10/17 He died of wounds
His father received his scroll
His effects consisted of a disc, pipe, fountain pen, metal rings, testament, photo case, two wallets, notebook, purse, 2 belts, badges, buttons, compass, key, a silver locket, 2 metal lockets, two coins, photos, cards, letters
15/11/17 The family asked for a death certificate
The family received all his medals
Charles Shrives was his brother
