PLACE & DATE OF DEATH:

Rowland died on 28 June 1942, aged 18. 


LOCATION OF GRAVE/MEMORIAL:

Rowland is buried in the Leongatha Cemetery and has his name on the memorials at Leongatha and Mt Eccles.


RELATIONSHIP TO WOORAYL SHIRE:

Rowland grew up on the family farm in the Mt Eccles area. He attended Wild Dog Valley State School and after leaving school he worked on the farm.


MILITARY/OTHER HISTORY:

Shortly after his 18th birthday Rowland enlisted for war service and joined the RAAF. He trained as an aircraft mechanic and served for six months however, while in the training camp at the Royal Melbourne Show Grounds Rowland contracted meningitis and sadly died.
